Injection Pump Leaked Then Stopped

About a week ago ,after driving 20-30 miles the IP leaked between the pump head ,and IP body ,from the bottom.

Tonight I decided to fire it back up (it's been a few days since the leak) ,idled for a while ,then drove around for 30 minutes , came back and NO LEAK

I guess the O-ring sealed back up , temporarly I'm sure .

There is a write-up on this list, with pictures, on how to replace that o-ring. Its a very tricky operation, but someone figured out how to do it without all of the high-pressure pump innards falling out when you do it.

Dieselgeek.com sells a viton head o-ring replacement kit. It also comes with all of the instructions you need to do the job.

Here's the how-to for the IP reseal (Top, Middle, and pump head).

If you are doing anything other than the pump head and top seal, you WILL need VCDS (was vag-com).

dont worry the leak will come back-same happened to my son golf 200k km's
started with lower leak then upper iq leak , head leaked also
i tried to avoid the head o ring - for a while it stopped leaking
but after a few days started to leak again so I took the pump out
put it head up in a vice and did the head o rings (there is
a smaller one around the center bolt)
