Personally, I've used Synchromesh fluid in my manual trans for the last 4 years and 100,000 miles (I'm definitely overdue for a fluid change, and have some more on hand for the next time I get my car in the air.)

Pennzoil Synchromesh is what you need. Just change it every timing belt. IIRC (if I recall correctly) you need 2 quarts.
It's simple dino oil, (non synthetic), cheap and effective.

I had Synchromesh in the 6sp. in past cars, but couldn't find it locally, so went with OEM stuff (~$30CAD for 2L) on my recent 5sp., and it's been great.
