I find it very interesting that a 0445010042 was originally installed on a engine that only made something like 62HP. When installed on a 2.0 TDI with a tune producing close to 200HP crankshaft HP, I wonder how close these are being run to the max output.
Makes you wonder if they’re overkill for the original application or if we are pushing them to their limits? Interesting

They were overkill. Good for well over 300 hp.

I can definitely confirm the fuel economy increase, thankfully. My driving habits are mostly city with a few highway visits on weekends. Normally I’d be at 470kms (290 miles) at exactly half tank and reach 770(478miles) -790kms (490miles) at the first instance of low fuel light.

I’m currently a notch away from half talk and already at 498kms (309miles). No change in driving habits and I didn’t tell my wife to whom I share the car with so she isn’t biased with trying to save fuel and drive lightly. So far so good and I’m quite pleased. If I could gain 60-70kms a tank that would be like a 7-9% gain in efficiency over a tank with this CP3 alone.

Yes. The same sized R70 pumps are used on BMW's making over 300 hp. If your power goal is much in excess of that, a GTI probably would have been a better choice.

New question to this thread. I installed this kit years ago with a rebuilt pump from Rufre. The pump appears to be leaking so I'm looking for a new or rebuilt. There are several places to get another pump but I was wondering about VW. Is there any way to correlate the Bosh 0445010042 part number to say a 2006 Jetta TDI part number? VW does not give out part numbers and they do not seem to be able to cross reference to a Bosh part number.

Thanks

Where is it leaking from exactly? Darkside and Macradiators (user here) likely could help, or they can at least get you a proper unit to replace.

My TDI guru says that there is fuel accumulating on the bottom of the pump but other than that nothing obvious. I'm pretty sure Darkside is slightly different as there adapter kit uses a slightly different belt(not stock.) Whitbreadperformance and Germandieselmotorwerks look like it's that exact same 2Micron kit I have but Germandieselmotorwerks does not have the pumps as they are on back order. IDparts is seeing if they can get the Bosh part number so I thought I'd hit VW up.

I told them it was the HP fuel pump for a 2006 TDI Jetta and they said there were two of them local. They are not willing to give me a VW part number so I could cross reference it. I guess I could drive down to the dealer but I'm not sure if the part number on the pump would have the Bosh number.

Can you take a picture on where the leak is and such? Maybe we can help? How many miles on that pump or how long you had it? More info the better.

@lynnejohn what do you mean that

That's super odd that they wouldn't cough up the PN.

I frequently call a local VW stealership for pricing and to confirm fitment of parts with my VIN and also use my VIN to get part numbers of different parts. Never had one refusal.

I'd try another dealership.

Another thing you could try is look into some Dodge dealers inquiring after the CP3 that came stock on Jeep Liberty's and (probably) other models.

I put the CP3 kit in back in Feb 2016 when the car had 118K on it. I currently have 217K on the car. The Bosh part number of 0445010042 also equates to a 0986437309 which I think is related to a Citroen Peugeot part number. The VW 2006 TDI HPFP for the 1.9L engine that I found at a VW dealer near by has a 0986437409 number. It is a 0986437409 instead of a 0986437309 but I have no idea what the difference is.
IDParts called me back and said that Bosch told them it would be 90 days to get one. Looks like I may have to wait until Germandieselmotorwerks gets one or I could try and order it from the UK.

Hey,

dont buy the 0986437309, it will not match your CP3 set up. you need to get the exact model 0445010042, its on ebay, UK as well.

I bought the fuel pump from him once, it ran beautifully and he sells them pretty cheap, please re-use your fuel meter valve from the failing CP3 pump. he sells them with incorrect fuel meter valve. I have gone thru headaches with his fuel meter valve.... a tad too big.

make sure your fuel meter valve model is 0 928 400 643 from old CP3.

Xman turbos on Facebook sells them. also whitbread performance, their website... best to contact them directly.

Hey Calimustang,

After long and arduous searching this is where I ended up:

- I ended up buying a rebuilt 0445010042 from Darkside as they had one in stock and it only took four days to reach CT from the UK.
- Germandieselmotorwerks also has them(it was going to take a bit longer to get one).
- Industrial Injection out in Salt Lake City, UT says they can do a rebuild of a 0445010042(if you want to pull the pump and send it to them.)

I'm going in to have my TDI guru(413 Auto) swap it out. Because I bought the 0445010042 I should have the correct fuel meter valve, right?

Thanks

Not sure about where you’re at but any marine shop should be able to refer you to a competent diesel pump rebuild shop. Or google them for your area. Not a diesel shop as they will send it out and mark it up, but an actual diesel machine shop. Make sure you give them a heads up that it’s an odd ball pump and give them the part number.

Am I #40?? Getting low rail pressure and oscillation after install, anyone else experience that issue?

I've been running the CP3 on the stock "fixed" tune for about a month now and it's unnoticeable (other than the slight gear whine). I'll be doing deletes and
a tune before long but I see no reason why you couldn't run it stock indefinitely.
Cheers!
What are you talking about stock fixed tune. I put on a cp3. do I need to get a modified tune to make it run right.

I have had a CP3 pump installed.
Hey did you need to get a tune to make it run right without the #2 pump. I did mine along with some other things and it does not run right. I did a lot of stuff at the same time. CBEA engine fail, because of shotty design hex shaft.

Mine was too high after install because of installing my #2 pump which needed to be deleted. according to the diagram. Did you figure it out. or do you know if I need to get a tune to get mine to run right.

I think it might have been air in the fuel lines initially. After priming (cycling the key a few times) it turned over and hummed quietly. Drove it for about a week without any issues, and even had the logs pulled and sent to Malone who didn’t seem to notice anything out of the ordinary. They did say some pumps do require tunes and could cause limp do to low rail pressure at higher rpm, so don’t be alarmed if you have any of that.

Unfortunately I now think I have an issues with the metering valve. Constantly getting code 00144 Fuel pressure regulator A control circuit/open. Reseated plugs to pump which fixed the issues temporarily, but a test drive caused total failure of one of the pumps and ruined the alternator....ouch. New metering valve on the way....as well as a pricey 150watt refurb alternator.

This all applies to CJAA engine.

I worked with someone from Malone to get a tune dialed in. Took some logs with VCDS, sent them to Malone and since the last update it’s running great.

I also just unplugged the swirl flap motor and I’m seeing better city mileage and it’s not so immediately torque-heavy off the line. Highway mileage didn’t see any difference.

hmm, what meter valve did you get? Hope its a 643.
Yep went thru the same ordeal with wrong meter valve.... slapped the 643 on and call it a day.

I have the CP3 put on my car right now. I was doing several repairs at the same time. Timing belt, water pump, also Engine change. new turbo, all items coded and adapted. CBEA oil pump hex shaft fail. Having some drivability problems right now. Need to feather the throttle to get boost sometimes......Runs and drives but some hesitation. DId you need to get a tune after install. Just Curious. I will check the valve on my car as well.

So have some question. I see there are multiple different kits available. Which is best kit? I would like to keep the factory timing belt. Beside the tune anything else recommended?

A tune after install is recommended.

There are a wide range of kits in the market and if they specifcally market it for your Year, Make & Model vehicle it will fit without having to change the factory timing belt. However while they are in there it may be worth considering having the belt changed based on age/mileage since removing the belt is part of the installation process.

not with correct fuel meter valve. no tuning needed. I worked with 2micron with several incorrect fuel meter valves. I informed several vendors and one seems to have followed thru with me. others.... still require tuning because incorrect fuel meter valve. hence shelling out more money.

Now I am having this problem. I replaced the engine 2 times. simply bad luck. CJAA in it now. But I am not sure if my particulate filter got plugged form all the problems I had. any thoughts.
