Am replacing rear brake pads and have run into a problem on the RHS caliper. The boot covering the piston has come out of the cylindar housing a length of maybe 1/4" along the circumference and I am unable to push it back in. Is there any way of doing that without tearing the rubber?

Also, could not apply enough torque to wind the piston back in while the caliper was attached to the brake hose so had to remove it and do it with the caliper held in a vice. It was still a good grunt at the start to get the thing to turn but it got a lot easier once it was in about 1/2 way. The LHS was also hard to turn but not so hard that I had to remove the caliper. Anyhow, when I reinstall the caliper (or a new one), should I replace the washer on the brake hose connector or OK to reuse?

Thanks for any assistance. This is a great group - the local independent shops want $450 for rear pad and rotor replacement :(
