The Diesel Particulate Filter light came on this morning for about 10mins and disappeared as I was driving. Anything to worry out?
Thanks for the reply. I was on the highway for 20-30mins on the weekend. Maybe I need to drive a little longer on the highway? This is in your manual.
But essentially it means you need to drive the car (preferably out the highway at a steady speed for about 15 minutes) to complete a regen.
It just means the quick passive regens were not enough, and the car was unable to complete the full regen within your driving habits.
Lots of info here on DPF-friendly driving. Short trips, driving too easy, excessive idle time, etc. are not good.
Lots of people monitor their engine management with some sort of device (Scangauge, etc.) through the DLC to be better informed of the goings on of the DPF regen cycle. You can *usually* tell if you are really "in tune" with the car, but driving down the road not always. If you come to a stop, and the idle is high, the fans are running on high, it is easy to tell those signs.
