wagon and sedan.. what is different?

Correct me if I am wrong but arent the two the same B Pillar forward? Same dimensions?

Assuming you are talking about A4 platform cars, yes pretty much the same from B-pillar forward. All our wagons were assembled in Germany, all our sedans were assembled in Mexico, but much of the parts are the same.

Found out recently that the wagons (at least the 2004 I am parting out) didn't get the back lit dash vent controls the sedans did.

Wagon rear springs are different. The rest of the mechanicals are the same.

The demise of the lit vents was a 2004 thing, not a wagon thing. After 2003, VW stopped putting in the vent LEDs on all Jettas (Golfs never had them) for some reason.

I've also seen the exhaust length being listed different with the wagons having a long catback portion(likely just the axleback part due to short/long bumper).
