So I gave my newly built TDI to my ex in the split since she didn't have a car. She took it to a mechanic for it's bad cold starts without talking to me about it, it has bad cold starts because I used a 3 hole head gasket when it previously had a 2 hole, I live in a warm climate she doesn't. I wanted low compression so I could run high boost and possibly propane injection safely but I never got around to it. Anyway.... The mechanic changed the timing and now 2 weeks later it looks like it has a blown head gasket. Anyone else think that's not a coincidence and have any advice

My advice is explain all that to her and to her mechanic as well,
and let them work it out
Did you mean to say "timing belt"?

But no, it doesn't sound coincidental.

Not the belt he just decided to change the timing to improve the cold starts. He also replaced the cam sensor
