I finished a 5 speed manual swab into a B5 last winter and it is a great car. Consistently over 40 MPG. Now I want a TDI 4Motion wagon. To save a few bucks at first I would like to use the existing Auto tranny. The specks I find is that the final drive on a W8 is 3.5. If that is correct it would only be 150 rpm higher than my DUK at 60 mph, while the V6 4 motion final drive is 3.73. Can anyone confirm these ratios. The V6 FWD is supposedly 3.09 which would work for a diesel, but like I wrote earlier I want AWD. Please let me know your thoughts or what your experiences have been.

Too many.
Final drive is 3.89 for the W8/Auto.

The TCM would require custom programming for the correct shift points of a diesel.

That's what I need to know. I will just plan to get the manual components from Frans as soon as I find a decent wagon.
