I just lost my 5spd tranny and had an opportunity to put in a 6spd. The car was running before the old tranny was dropped, now the problem is, everything is back together....crank, but no start.

Many things have been tried, and thought of, like, the CPS as it was throwing up a fault code, fuses are all ok, and doesn't appear to be a fuel delivery problem as starting fluid sprayed into intake...not even a bite.

Any ideas on this one would be appreciated.

Do not use starting fluid on a Diesel, you can cause severe damage. What you need to do is find the problem.

Did you change the rear main seal? If you did and did not have the special tool to align the tone ring for the crank position sensor, you will get a crank but no start condition.

A faulty cam position sensor will still allow the car to start, but will require longer crank times.

well starting fluid can be used if you disable the glow plugs and or intake heater, but if you have tried that and it wont run you have a compression problem, check to see if the exhaust is plugged up and or a intake pipe is pinched

No wrong. If a Diesel will not start, you need to figure out why. All starting fluid will do is complicate the problem by causing potential severe damage.

Can't remember if I said it before, but:
Do Not Use Starting Fluid On A Diesel!!!

Unless you are into huffing Either, starting fluid has no business being used on even a gas engine, let alone a Diesel. If an engine will not start, you need to figure out why.......

IDK how changing the transmission would result in a compression problem.

Could you expand some on what led up to your no start condition?
