Trusted TDI mechanics within 2-3hrs of Sacramento?

My husband and I own a 2003 Jetta TDI with over 400K. We bought it new... and it’s older than our oldest kid. We don’t trust mechanics at a dealership to work on it, because we’ve always relied on TDI gurus in Michigan and Wisconsin.
We now live just north of Sacramento and need to find a trusted TDI mechanic because the car needs some TLC or it’ll get put out to pasture. While my kids would be pleased at this (search youtube for “beige Betty State Farm commercial”), my husband might be heartbroken.
With folks talking about a Bay Area GTG and a NorCal GTG, I’m really hoping there’s some options either in the Sacramento area or within a 2-3 hour drive (in good traffic!).
