Anyone have any problems returning their car with the engine light on? Obviously it make no sense to fix it if I'm returning the car so I'm hoping this won't be a problem.

The conditions of the settlement make no mention of the state of the CEL, only that the car be operable. It can even be wrecked, as long as it's operable. You'll be fine.
(NB: there do seem to have been some refusals to accept cars that have been obviously stripped of some components that were part of the car when it was sold, but that's about the only thing I've read about.)
