Hi everybody,
I'm new on this forum. Got here because on Dec 2017 I bought a 2.0 vw tdi 2015 from a independent car dealer. I was told that the car got thru P1. Now , a month ago I went to the local VW for an oil change and check up/recalls. The guy told me that he can't proceed to do P2 because there is no claim# on the car and if I open a claim I could get some money from VW. I was surprised. So I looked up the VIN on the web site and...I am qualified for $ 6,933 . Wow ! I submitted all required documents and...surprise ! Got an email few days ago that my car is ineligible. I'm confused. I called the 800# and the guy couldn't offer details about this. He recommends to appeal and submit a claim that I don't agree with the decision. Any thoughts? Should I talk to a lawyer.

Was Phase 1 completed earlier? If it was, there should be 2 stickers under the hood, near the driver side windshield , providing information regarding the Phase 1 completion. There should also be a booklet on this with you set of vehicle manuals.

If Phase 1 was done earlier, most in this forum are saying VW is denying restitution claims (for monetary incentives, regardless what a subsequent buyer’s attempt to make a restitution claim on the VW Claim Portal), and doesn’t require any additional claim numbers to have Phase 2 completed. The VW service shop should be able to assist you with your inquiry on getting Phase 2 completed.

Thanks. Phase1 was completed before I got the car. I also completed Phase 2 few weeks ago. But before that the service specialist advised me to file a claim. Just did and I got the email I mentioned. I guess I get no money from VW.

Correct, no money as phase 1 was already done before you bought the car

Enjoy the new ride though. Report back how you like phase 2 fix vs phase 1.

You wrote that you a month ago the service guy told you to file a claim to proceed to P2 but that you were able to do P2 a couple weeks ago even though your claim was denied.

Can you explain how you managed to get P2 done without a claim number?

No restitution (money) claim is needed for phase 2. There are lots of cars out there that have no more blood money left from VW to give to owners.

Phase 2 is a recall first, second it provides some owners with money which is through the website.

The problem he and I both ran into was that the service manager told us we needed to file a claim before they could proceed, what changed their minds at his dealership?
