I am looking for some ideas on how to counter-hold the crank sprocket for bew engine- came across this one (frank06’s po boy tool)and am wondering if it applies to bew engine?

It lookss like the lower bolts are threaded into the block? I cant’ tell in the picture- i don’t think the bew has those large bolt holes to pin the bar at the bottom.

There are just too many to list....
The VAG SST number is 3099.

SST = Special Service Tool.

If you google the numbers I gave you, you can find plenty of places that sell them. They work on a LOT of VAG engines dating back to the middle 1970s.

I found this evercraft tool athttps://www.napaonline.com/en/p/BK_7768030

At my local napa’s free Tool rental program- it worked well to take the bolt off, i was able to press the tool handle with my feet while my arms broke the bolt loose, problem now is the tool needs to be held in the opposite direction, i can’t foot press it, so i now i need to block it somehow.- i am probable going to run a long 4x4 beam along the bottom of the car, then chalk it with my second car.
