So this SportWagen came into our dealership this morning and I had to share. Also it got me thinking, given VW's new advertising campaign, what kind of mileage to people have their CR cars? I'm talking odometer, not MPG.

So here is the odometer;

And the pertinent info - 2010 SportWagon, manual transmission, no sunroof, factory exhaust, only non - OE is a CB setup.

Well, I have a ways to go. My 2010 only has 210,573 miles so far.

By chance could you post a picture of where and how the CB is mounted? thanks

Wow that's impressive, 100k a year or more....

If you have it, can you share any major parts/service this car has undergone? Any VIN/ownership redacted of course, just wondering how many DPF's, fuel pumps that sort of thing.... hopefully on the originals :D

So can you relate your experiences in the 210k? Or link to a previous thread?

As a new (coming up on one year, 17,000 miles) I'd really like to hear about what sort of stuff you have had to replace/repair, issues.

I recall a high mileage thread but it seemed like we only have a handful of members with seriously high mileage.

New Beetle, Jetta, one totaled Passat....RIP.
How in the world do you get that many miles? My '12 has 17,000. Our '06 has 127,000 and our '00 had 157,000 when it was totaled last month

This is a customer who does wide load and oversized load escort duty. You know the car or pickup, in front of the giant semis, warning traffic of the big load and verifing clearance under overpasses.

No picture but the CB radio is strapped to the arm rest with a bungy cord, mic hanging from the between the sun visors (below dome light) on a smaller bungy, antena is mag mount in the middle of the roof.

I'll see if I can find out about DPF and such.

thats impressive... With that kind of miles, it is no wonder the instrument cluster is lit up like a Christmas tree...Curious why it came in for service?

Only two notable repairs - lower control arm rear bushings and dual mass flywheel at about 180,000 miles.

Rear brakes at about 189,000 miles. Front brakes are still original.

Actually with a tad under 100,000 miles per year, I think it would be of EXTREME interest to know the maintenance cycles AND unscheduled maintenance stuff that is done to this thing.

For as much time in the "saddle", I am thinking the drivers side seat cushions and back is/are a tad beyond a little bit worn?

So for example the military uses sheepskin for cargo planes (many hours in saddle @ a wack by multiple people at times.

Mine has started cracking up in the left lower bolstering. :( Probably about 6000 hours of me in it, and getting in and out 20 times a day, I guess I shouldn't complain.

But I'm super tempted to stick some nice piece of black duct tape on it to slow it down....unless someone can guide me to some sort of brilliant solution. :)

I would at least see what a used seat would cost at a junk yard

I think a lot of us, for a range and host of reasons like to hear the high mileage stories !

Some yard sticks that might help perspective can be:

1. average European yearly mileage: 9,000 miles
2. average US yearly mileage: 12,000 to 15,000 miles
3. average age of the US passenger car fleet: 11 to 12.5 years old

Some reliability and durability items might be :

highway miles are so called "good" mileage.
the least the vehicle is started and stopped the better
run the vehicle for at least a minimum of 30 mins to 1 hour

So snapped a picture of the driver seat. Sorry about the reflection from the window.

Pretty good for the miles.

On the topic of warning lights - he has a LARGE road atlas that was in the passenger seat when the battery was replaced. The PODS module didn't like it. I cleared the DTC and did not come back. The MIL and stalling is why he came in for service. And the bulb light is for a lic light "that has been out for the last 150,000 miles". The bulb works so he declined to fix it.

Oh, a couple other items that were asked. The DPF appears to be original. No service record of it being replaced and I read "Oil Ash Volume 369mL, Soot load calculated 12g" from the ECM. It had a clutch replaced but no mention of HPFP.

He bought the car here and brings it in regularly for service.

Here are some pictures from the intake, EGR valve and throttle valve (intake was replaced for bad IMRC).

Oh, and the glow plugs are really easy to get at with it off.

Hey, do me a favor, stop picking your nose in my rearview mirror... :D

Dang, makes me feel more confident about it! I hope to make it to 300k miles and the car will be paid off by next year... I do 50 miles round trip commute.

175ml of ash is supposed to be the limit at which it should be replaced.

The owner should probably be noticing more frequent regens, and lower mileage.

A local lady who is a courier with 250k miles on her 2010 JSW had her DPF replaced recently, and it was over 300ml, IIRC. So you can run them that long, but it may not be advisable.

But good to know that 175ml may not be 'critical' for replacement.
