Was adding windshield washer fluid, checking oil on car. Noticed in the back left corner of the engine a "bunch of white crud encircling" a pipe there. I carefully broke it off in chunks and cleaned up.

The part is black, which connects to a silver colored part, there are two small pipes which go underneath it, and to the left of the "part" is a pipe with a bend to the right near the firewall.

Been looking for an engine diagram to figure out what that part is. Not familiar yet with this engine, unlike 15 years on Jetta 1.9 tdi.

Coolant line? Took picture but can't post I see.

That's the adblue injector. The white crud (ice cream cone, some call it) is crystallized adblue. It's leaking. It was serviced during the fix and this frequently happens. Dealer will fix it under the emissions warranty.
