Interesting. I had my 2011 Touareg that has a salvage title denied on Friday the 28th as well. It was issued a Salvage title on 11/16, so it should be approved. Is VW denying ALL Gen II claims that have a salvage title perhaps?
Your Touareg is Gen 1 not Gen 2, but yes it appears so. Yours is the third one posted about on here that has been denied because it has a salvage title. The exact reason they told me was that I purchased it with a salvage title, not just that it has a salvage title.

Yes, my bad, Gen I. Did you talk to to the lawyers or one of the goons at VW claims? Has your claim been officially denied?

Yes, my 2011 Q7 was officially declared ineligible, see the email from VW I posted above. I called VW and they said it was because I bought the car with a salvage title.

I didn't bother calling the lawyers because they have been unhelpful every time I have contacted them in the past. I did send a letter to the CRC asking them to make VW stick to the agreement and accept the vehicle. I'll let you know how that goes.

VW has rejected my claim for a 2011 Audi Q7 with a salvage title.
I called VW and they said it is ineligible because it has a salvage title. I have turned in multiple 2.0L salvage title cars and the wording regarding salvage titles in the 3.0L settlement is almost the same.
The vehicle was salvaged on April 13, 2017 with cosmetic damage to the front, hood, and driver fender. It still runs and drives fine and all safety equipment and lights are intact and functioning.
I will be filing an appeal with the Claims Review Committee. I'll let you know what happens.
There must be a better course of action than all of us in the same situation independently pursue this with the CRC. I wonder if we pool our knowledge, experience, email correspondences (evidence), and resources, we might have a better outcome. Thoughts?

Maybe another class action suit for enforcement of the settlement with added damages for delays, frustration, etc.

I've had an offer for over 3 months on a salvage car. It was salvaged prior to Sep 2015 and carfax shows it making a stop at CoPart. It should be a prime target for rejection I would think. Turn in date is Tuesday August 1. A few days ago I received the standard pre turn in email.

Keeping my fingers crossed they don't reject me at the last minute... I will update this thread regardless what happens.
Well, buyback appointment went just fine. The specialist said, "uh oh, salvage title, they have been rejecting those lately." But it went through, I have a paper and email receipt. I forgot but this one had "not actual mileage" on the title too. Feeling a little like I won the lottery given info on this thread. Of course I still have to get the EFT but seems like that is very likely now.

With that, my last VW is gone and I am done with the TDI Forum. Thanks to all for the advice and info, especially DanB36, Duratitus, TommyGun and PurdueCrew. Adios Amigos!

Guys, Could you advise?
Bought a salvage VW on Jan 2017. It appeared that the salvage title itself was issued Apil 2016. Do you think this violates the rule which requires the vehicle to be operable June 2016? I'm stuck on step 15 and just received an email from VW asking me to upload PROOF_OF_NOT_SALVAGE. I'm kind of confused what proof should I provide.

So I looked into what it would take to convert my "certificate of vehicle salvage" to a real title here in PA, and I'm hosed again. To get a "reconstructed vehicle title" in PA, the car has to pass a 100 pt safety inspection...it essentially has to be in complete pre-accident condition. No way that can be done and make it economical. So, my choices are (a) wait for VW to actually make a decision on my case or (b) sign the thing over to a salvage yard and get my claim reset for restitution only.

Oh, I sent all my documentation, including the original bill of sale, to the claim review committee back at the end of May. I got an email that said, "thank you for sending in your information, we will make a decision and get back to you in a few weeks". It's been more than a few weeks, and NOTHING. Why am I not surprised?

PS: does anyone have an email address for the CRC?

Several different models. Selling them back to VW
What was the cause of the salvage title being issued?
Just curious - why would that matter?
Because if it was just hail damage, the car would still have been operable on 6/28/16.

My opinion is that VW is just stalling your claim right now.
From talking with lead counsel @ Leiff Cabraser, VW has put a hold on all branded title claims until they figure out a uniform approach to how they will address them.

Also, you would not qualify for seller restitution at this point.

Yes, I have and I think many others. But that was in Nov last year on a salvage title that got branded in 2014. It seems the latest spat is with recently totaled cars that have been bought up by dealers or individuals that have claimed buyback with salvage cert (dealer) or salvage title (indiv) on top of previous owner's claim for restitution payment.

I should have been more clear. Have any Former Owners of Salvage Title Gen I 3.0's been paid yet? :)

I'd be surprised if anyone with salvage 3.0 was paid since the definition of 'operable' was revised for 3.0 vs 2.0.

How did the definition of operable get changed for the 3.0s?
It wasn't, as far as the situation with branded titles is concerned--in both cases, to be excluded for the branded title, the branded title must have been in place on 9/18/15, and the car must have been sold by a junkyard or salvage yard after that date.

What did change, though, is the general definition of operable. For 2.0 TDIs, the requirement was "can be driven under its own power." For 3.0, it was "can legally and safely be driven under its own power on the public roads." My wrecked JSW met the 2.0 requirement, but probably not the 3.0.

Anyone get a response from the CRC?
2.0L claim, not denied but in purgatory since March.

Got this today:

"Based on an initial review of your claim, we have determined that we need additional information for Volkswagen to process your claim. Please submit the following document by mailing or faxing it to the address or number listed below.

PROOF_OF_NOT_SALVAGE Please click here to visit the Online Claims Portal where you can upload the document. If you do not want to submit online, you can choose to submit the document by mail or fax.

As a reminder, please ensure that your reference number is visible on the top of each document. Your reference number is 17003XXXX."

I read in a previous post that someone had asked for clarification, and was told it was a "bill of sale/transfer" that was needed, and that it was a "typo" that they requested "PROOF_OF_NOT_SALVAGE". Sure enough, in the portal it says requesting proof of acquisition (see below).

On the portal, the only option they've given me is to snail mail it in, no fax number or digital upload option. Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?

Proof of Vehicle Acquisition

Please mail the document to the following address:

Their email is: crc@vwcourtsettlement.com
and fax is: 248-754-6602 (just got it via "chat" on the portal)

Anyone know the fax number for this same address, so that I might double-prong my approach?

What vehicle is this for and were you denied a claim or not?

As stated, the claims portal did not give me an option to upload digitally, or even fax in the requested doc; only snail mail. Well, I found the fax for the CRC and sent it in asap, and before I could even mail out the hardcopy a day later, the portal now says they're reviewing and have received doc (blue eyes).

Seems like another little hurdle that's intentionally been left up by VWGoA; only offering snail mail option is sure to slow and/or discourage some.

Green check mark for "proof of acquisition" at 2:45am this morning...
Interesting...will be very interested to see if they ultimately issue your offer.

If you don't mind, can you remind us what the history was on your car? Did you buy it as a salvage from somewhere? Or did you own it before it got salvaged?
