Ever since I've owned my 06 Jetta, I've had a bad case of memory steer which makes it pretty difficult to drive. I am constantly making corrections in the steering wheel while driving straight. Any movement (even the slightest) in the steering wheel, it goes and stays in that direction.
I'm not very familiar with the electronic steering systems. Today, I jacked up the front of the car and as I move the steering wheel, there is a lot of resistance unlike a typical hydraulic system. So to eliminate any binding in the suspension, I disconnected the tie rods but the resistance is the same. Is this normal? Both strut mounts rotate without much resistance, ball joints are tight, and the control arm bushings appear to be in great shape.
BTW, I had an alignment awhile back and everything is in spec. The caster is well within the specified limit - around +7.4* to +7.5*.
