Default Did some Carbon Fiber interior work (Updated)

I ordered some 3M 1080 Scotchprint from E-bay and decided to cover the woodgrain on the dashboard and the inserts on the door panels.

I applied the vinyl to the door inserts while they were in place....I didn't remove them. It was easy to just trim it in place. I removed the woodgrain dashboard section and applied the vinyl at the kitchen table. Much easier that way since it's such a wide piece.

Overall, it was a simple job. And, if I get tired of it, I can just peel it off. I haven't done anything with the woodgrain center console. But, that will be next (probably this weekend).

Here's some pics:

That is some great looking work you did. One of the reasons we didn't get an SEL was the wife didn't like the wood grain. I better not show her this thread. lol.

Gives me some great ideas though to change up our black and aluminium interior.

Thanks! My wife didn't like the woodgrain either. She drives my car every Mon and Tues and I haven't told her or shown her the new look. I figure I'll let her discover it on her own next week.

You should definitely give it a try. Only about 5 mins for the door inserts and the handles. The dashboard only took about 20 mins and that was just taking my time. I bought a 12" wide by 12 feet long piece of carbon fiber for $60. But, you could definitely get a smaller piece (6 feet long) and spend even less.

I would probably give it a try but my Jetta already has a simulated carbon fiber look in the trim, the pattern is much smaller though.

Yes and no. It is made by 3M. The model name is 1080 Scotchprint. But it's not the DiNoc model. DiNoc is more of a flat black. The 1080 Scotchprint has more of a glossy finish than the DiNoc.

Correction: I keep calling it Scotchbright. It's actually Scotchprint. Sorry. (I made the correction in the above posts)

Have you figured out how to remove the trim at the base of the windshield? Please post if you have!
The faux carbon-fiber looks very nice. Well done!
