Hi guys!

It has been a while since I have been here, but got some great advice a few years ago when I owned a TDI Golf. Anyway, I am considering buying a used 1991 NA Jetta diesel for a veggie oil conversion. It has the 1.6 non turbo engine. I have not gone to see the car yet, but it looks to be in great shape and has 161K miles. I have just begun my internet searches on this car and engine in general, as well as WVO conversions. My thinking was an older diesel engine would be a better candidate for a conversion compared with the newer TDIs. Any insight or other places to do some research would be appreciated. Also, and Veggie haters are welcome to tell me why I shouldn't do this. Oh, and yes I realize this is going to be SLOW car, but I am fine with that!

Thanks,
Mark

If you are going to choose a VW to run gunk in, a 1.5 or 1.6 is the best one.

Bear in mind that unlike the inline pumps on the Mercedes cars the rotary pump VW uses is lubricated by the fuel.
