Speedometer not working on my TDI

Hi the speedometer on my 2003 tdi won't work. The jetta had a automatic to 5 speed swap, and it hasn't worked since. I put a new gearbox speed sensor in it, and the gear is not striped out in the transmission so It has to be electrical. I have seen that some people run the speedometer wires from the gear box speed sensor to the original automatic transmission control module. If anybody has had problems with this or knows what is is please let me know
