I am stuck in the middle of changing headlights in my 2002 beetle. Passenger side. No problem. 3 minutes done. The drivers side the release lever will not move all the way to the top so the headlight assembly is not budging. Any ideas or tricks would be most welcome at this point. Thanks for your time guys!

You probably already know this, but a little (very little) dirt in there someplace is really good at keeping plastic from sliding like it needs to. My only suggestion is to introduce a very small amount of water and maybe that will help free up the sliding parts.

This is more than a week after you asked for help. If the problem is already resolved, what did you end up doing?

Cheers,

You can use liberal amounts of cheapo wd-40 type spray....get the job done....then, simply use hot soapy water after done to "chase away" the lube. Forcing the issue will result in breakage...and anger.
