I've looked all over and can't find a manual how to drain the fuel filter. Can someone post how. It is easy on my 03 Cummins but I'm unsure of what the procedure is here. Thanks, Chris

Simply remove the filter from the holder and turn the knob on the bottom of the filter. You won't get any water out and I'm sure I will never do it again. Changing your filter every 20k miles is good enough. These filters don't have a true water separator...

Look into getting a CAT 2 micron fuel filter. I just converted mine to one of these this weekend. It's a much better filter.

www.lubespecialist.com is where you can buy the adapter and filter.

It's more about the quality of the filter than the extended maintenance schedule. I'm not sure what the absolute limit for it would be but it's certainly a lot longer than the stock filter. These CAT filters were meant for much, much larger engines that flow a lot more fuel than our TDIs could ever do. I'll probably change mine every other oil change, so that would be 20k - 30k miles. That's probably overkill...

How long does the Cat filter last? 20K? 30K?
__. I have about 45K on my first CAT filter now. No problems so far (although I'll be changing it out with a new filter this week - I found them for a little less than $11 at a CAT dealer in Emporia VA). I'm a bit more concerned with clogging in cold weather at higher mileages than the higher mileage itself.

I assume the CAT filtration system works for the PD as well as the VE engine, correct?

If so, I'm gettin one right about... meow ;-)

Just picked up a FrostHeater (TDi Heater), GLi Springs and GLi Headlights.... the mods have begun :)
