RNS 510 issues

I'M having issue with my rns 510 in my 2014 passat tdi sel. When i bought it in July i knew it had a cd/dvd error where it would not play cds but everything else worked fine. I mainly use blue tooth from my phone anyway. I few days ago the radio would not power on. The next day it powered on but would flicker over and over. Now its back to not powering on. I want to fix it but don't know where to start. Are there any good aftermarket head units that is compatible with the mfd?

any auto radio shop (even best buy) would be able to get a worthy aftermarket unit to work with steering wheel controls.

Another option would be sourcing a used RNS510 off ebay, but the cost would be about the same for a better unit, carplay/android auto.
