This thing is FAST!! 6 speed... very stock at 210 HP.. Plus super slick interface with my iphone... also the Car-net and emergency calls (VW equivalent to OnStar) are a great safety feature... I think I am going to have lotsa fun with it... Hoping I can still hold on to my Jetta too... 3 TDIs and one GTI may be too many :(

I guess I got tired of waiting for the GTD

Am thinking of getting this tune JB1... http://www.burgertuning.com/jb_vw_stage_1_tuner.html ... gets great reviews on VWVortex... does not void warranty as I can just remove it when I drive it into the dealer

Power Gains: 35whp and 40ft lb with 91 octane with +4.8psi boost over stock plug and play. With optional map adjustments power curve at the top of the rpm range can be improved a further 10whp.

When it comes time to replace my Golf, I've been thinking about going with a GTI. Your car makes me want to upgrade sooner rather than later. Isn't the mk7 a beaut? :D

Very nice! I'm very likely going to accept a buyback for my Mk6 and then get a GTI. I think the pleasure of driving it will outweigh the additional cost of fuel. :)

Thank you guys for all the compliments... It is my most favorite car I ever owned... Even stock, it comes already loaded with everything one needs.. .amazing features... the car-net interface is awesome... the emergency call is a great feature.. (VW's version OnStar) .... was tired of waiting for the GTD... It's already a little rocket as is ... cant wait to see what it will be like with the JB1 tuning box..

Now looking at window tint, doors and rear hatch sill protectors, and possibly some Ed's GTI headlights.. this will truly be all the mods I am looking at...

Other than the remote for my escort radar detector and a pro-clip for my iphone... already installed

The photos in post #12 above are not showing. BTW, can you post an image of your ProClip solution? Sure, I've seen the photos at ProClip, but I want to see one in the wild. ;)

For me, I was thinking I want a GTI in white or blue. Although I love my silver Jetta, I just wasn't feeling the GTI in silver. But NOW I've seen the right photos and want silver. A Sport is tempting, but I really think I'll be just as happy with a base S.

I'm a big fan of clear bras. I put one on my wagon after its first repaint started to chip within a few months. And I put one on my newly painted Golf. Not cheap, but cheaper than a repaint.

I put clear bras on both of my Mk6's the day after I bought them. Both have taken significant rock hits to the hood, but neither have suffered paint damage. I can see several spots on my clear bras where the bra is chipped away by something big, but the paint is unscathed. The installer guarantees his work and would likely replace the damaged material at no cost. But I'm not going to bother with it since my cars will likely go back to VW.

When I get my GTI, I'll likely arrange to drive it straight from the dealer to the 3M bra installer to minimize any exposure on the road. As Peter said, it's not cheap, but it's a great investment in paint protection.

Soo frustrated with photos ... I have to repost them after a few days and the second time they seem to stay on !! I use google photos ... before I used Picasa Web and never had any issues ... May try a different hosting site.. Now trying flickr

Anyways I totally botched up the Plastidip bra application.. . I was trying to do like this guy shows in this vid...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIqCER7kTqM spent all of Sunday working to pre the car and then the plasti dip spray bottle started spitting instead of spraying towards the end of the first can... was not able to put the 5 layers as called for and created a total mess..

Spent the next 3 hours trying to get the stuff off

Once it was all removed except on the emblems
