Taking it back to the dealer and taking a cam tower cap off would not tell you if the head side bearings had been replaced. Usually the top bearings look pretty good even when the bottoms are almost destroyed.

I define wear on cam bearings as how close the cam is to the oil slot. When the oil can not get out to the followers things can go bad in a hurry. IMHO. Someone else might define bearing wear as copper showing. If the car will run 12,000 miles US the replacement warranty will be over (?). If it lasts long enough they get to do it again for profit.

If they will not do the job over, I would ask for a set of bearings, bolts, seal, oil and whatever they might give me. Take it some where else and get the bearing replacement done.

If you replace the bearings again the trash should be flushed pretty good and a new set of bearings would last much longer. This might be a blessing.
