Does anyone know where I can find instructions on using the search feature here? I checked vBulletin's site, but it was only instructions for administrators.

For more info on searching, go to the advanced search. It will give a number of options. If you want to use a google search on the forums, just scroll down a bit and you'll see a box for that. Please note that the google search is not as uptodate as the built in search.

Here's a hint - always check the box for "posts" not threads.
It defaults to threads - this does no good to have a 5 page thread returned to dig through when looking for your specific search term.
Secondly, use "boolean", this will allow you to limit or widen your search when you have more than one search term - just checking the box alone will often give much better results whether or not you use modifiers like "and" "or" "not" "near" "within" "before" "after" etc .
