Now that it's been hitting -20/30 every day outside I've been having some trouble getting into third. I go to shift from second and if I'm not trying to shift specifically extremely softly it kinda makes a clunking sound and falls forward out of the normal third gear position, almost all the way in 5th actually. It still works and there is no grinding sound and drives normally in third but it's very disconcerting since it's caused me to money shift into 1st twice going at least 40

Anyone know what this could be a symptom of? My jetta is deteriorating at an alarming rate and all the problems so far already total to at least 1200$ in parts alone.
