2013 Tdi Passat - P0299 loss of power - Turbocharger

Hi,

This morning my TDI lost power on the road. Scan code shows No P0299 turbocharger underboost condition. I hear a whistling sound when I press the gas pedal.

Q1. Is it safe to continue driving the car with an under boost condition until I have time to look into it ?

Q2. Where can I find a system diagram of the Turbo and vacuum system & hoses. I would like to start troubleshooting tonight

Q3. Any recommendations for a good TDI mechanic in the GTA? I live in Durham region and I work in Scarborough.

It looks like VW extended the turbo warranty on 2012-2013 Tdi passats to 10 years/120k miles. I just passed 199k Kim’s.

Don't drive it.

You almost certainly need a new turbocharger.

Take the inlet tube off from the air cleaner and look inside, the shaft is likely bent or broken.

Sorry don't know anyone in the east end but i would recommend Perjad at Precision Tuning in Concord.

Isn't it covered by the emissions fix warranty?

If your turbo is pooched, it's covered until 261k
