Problem with start.

My 2005 Bew jetta sometimes starts for 1 second and shuts down. sometimes it will do this up to 3x before finally starting and running normally. It happens on cold starts as well as warm starts. There is no immobilizer light flashing on the dash when it happens.
Please help me with some direction

When you do try to stat it, when you do key on, how soon are you going to the crank position? Sounds like you may have aeration in your fuel. Let the fuel pump run a bit longer before trying to crank. See if that helps.
