From what is happening to the 15s as of right now it is looking like they will be able to resell all of them once they have had whatever repair the EPA & CARB approve....
And with the change in political parties in washington even if CARB does not approve resale of the Gen 1s, the EPA likely will so not many if any will end up not being resold....

I know right where that's at! Its down by/at Pikes Peak Raceway!I turn in my '13 Jetta next Monday. This appears to be a staging area for VW diesels just south of Colorado Springs. There must be thousands of them.

I heard there is a big lot full of them in Brainerd MN but have not seen that confirmed.
If roughly 1/4 (my guess) of the 475,000 affected cars are turned in and shipped out of dealer lots, that would mean 20 lots around the country, each averaging 6,000 cars (my rough estimate of what is at the Silverdome based on drone pics). The numbers are staggering when you stop and think about it.

I have been to the VW dealership twice recently and have seen turned in TDIs and I feel a bit sad when I see them. But today, I saw the turn in specialist guy get out of a Passat and was trying to go back into the showroom but the door was locked. I was actually able to hold back my laughter, somehow.

Just think of all of those cars now in the lots sitting idle means there is some percentage of owners bought new cars as replacement. I'd have to guess 50-70%. Our house was 100% if you count the NOS '15 Passat as new car sale.
Dealer association should be giving a kick back to VWoA for all the new sales.

Check research.com it's a free site with pretty good info. Not sure if it's still available, but carfax has a service, myCARFAX.com which may still allow free beta user accounts.

Well, the dealerships still had to pay off their lot loans to VW to have the cars, but weren't allowed to sell them. No dealerships made any money off this deal.
Not to mention the loss of trust and value in the VW marque.

I turned my 2010 in on December 21st with 112k and I have been checking the VIN on research.com for a while. It now shows a salvage title and looks like it got crushed.

Now that all the 2.0s have a fix the low mileage ones will be resold. I traded my 09 JSW back with 40,000 miles on the clock and expected it to be crushed ,then the fix was announced. It will be resold and be a hell of a car for someone .
