Hello,
It's been pretty cold out here and I have been having problems with freezing door locks. The door(s) will open but then will not shut. I have been removing the black box that covers the gold colored locking mechanism and squirting some door lock deicer in it, then moving the bolt-type mechanism on the top/side of the mechanism, which allows the door to shut. Has anyone else run into this problem? Is there some kind of lubricant that would be good to use that would prevent the mechanism from freezing?
I was thinking maybe silicone?
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

I recently had that problem for the first time. If water might have entered the lock recently, you can avoid use of the door and be like the Dukes of Hazard - lower your window with the key and hop in!

Everyone that lives in a climate with freeze/thaw cycles has this problem with that car. I've had some success with taking the black cover off and packing the entire mechanism with grease. If it's filled with grease, water theoretically can't get in. It makes a mess, though.

Also, I never wash mine in the winter because of this problem.
