This was the first time I've fueled up and switching from a Lancer Evo the large gap from ULSD to Premium is a nice sight to see!

The two or three times the MPG shoulda been enough of a smile, even when diesel was more than RUG. :p

I haven't seen what the gap is today, but this weekend in the minnesota twin cities metro:
RUG $3.17
D2 $2.84

Me and a Cummins sharing a pump exchanged BIG smiles.

Woah-I'm stunned. Gas went up to 3.64 per gallon on the corner by my house. The good news is D2 is "only" 3.29. (I buy in the burbs where it's about 2.95)

Hell must have froze over

It finally happened: Diesel is lower than RUL for the 1st time since Katrina. It has been 20months since I bought my Golf and with the exception of the 1st month or so, diesel has consistently been an average of $.20 higher than RUL in the summer and $.30 in the winter. Driving around to the known lowest price stations yesterday and this am, I saw these prices:

Diesel: $2.89
RUL: $2.92

b100 from Feece was 3.00 even. D2 is running around 280 to 313 in the burbs of Chicago. I kinda want D2 to go to like 4 or 5 bucks a gallon :) as long as b100 stays at 3.

At the four diesel stations within a mile of here, the highest dropped to $2.67 and the lowest dropped to $2.63. Last night, I went to the Shell to get filled up at $2.79 on premium diesel. Why? Because I got one of those $50 Shell gift cards from VW. For the next two tanks, I'll see if there's any difference with the car using premium and then, it's back to Gulf.

Huge Gap!

$2.65 for ULSD and $2.95 for RUG!!! Sure is nice to own a TDI!! Where are all the theororists that were claiming that diesel was always so much higher than RUG because the station owners knew they could rape us diesel owners and get away with it? Where are your excuses now?

At the Hess in Dover/Parsippany on 46 today diesel was 2.699 and RUG 2.889. It's a bit of a pyrrhic victory considering I still spent $40 to fill up the wagon, but I did use a 3% cash back credit card so at that price that's 8 cents off!

If prices go much higher I will have to start brewing BioD.

Upside-down diesel

Up until about a month ago, diesel here in rural central Maryland (about 60 miles west of Baltimore/DC) was more than 87 gas, but in the last month the regular gas has gone up to around $3.09 while I can still get #1 for $2.89 and one place has B5 for $2.87. I usual smirk at any Prii I see on the highway here, like, "hey, I'm getting better mileage than you right now!"

Thats nearly 70 cents! And I thought the $3.14 rug to $2.93 was big. Though the 3.14 to 2.73 at the Flying J was another truck stop with a big spread.

This week I paid $2.69 for diesel and $3.15 for rug in Alabama. Some of the local stations that cater to cars, sells diesel for $2.91. I prefer to get it at the truck stop for the cheaper price and the hope of getting fresher fuel.

Hope it's not the start of a trend, but the price by my house jumped up from 3.29 to 3.39. Diesel is always more expensive in the city proper than in the suburbs.

The spot price in NY today, with the weekly EIA report due at 1030 EDT tomorrow, had RBOB gasoline down 9 cents/gallon and ULSD down about 4 cents/gallon. Gasoline has been a lot more volatile lately, while diesel and heating oil have held pretty steady for a few weeks.
