I’m starting to wonder weather my egt probe is reading accurately or not. I’ve never gotten temperatures beyond 800 degrees Fahrenheit according to my McNally combo boost/egt unit. I’m running big fmic , race nozzles, 1756 turbo. Shouldn’t my egt’s be higher especially on a 90 degree day, with ac on running wide open throttle for a mile .
Question, is there a way to test the accuracy of EGT pyrometers ?

Hi Bajan, did you mount the probe nearest the turbine and centered?
Not sure what exhaust mani you have; using the EGR port will give low readings.

My probe is mounted in the exhaust manifold port, that’s where my guru mount it years ago. I always thought it was low, but figured it had more to do with the firmware, which got updated from 2.01-2.05 I believe.

I thought so too, so I’ll research a difference location for best possible readings.

Drilling and tapping the mani just before the turbine is the best place to do it, pulling the turbo to instal it kinda sucks, but as long as you don't twist the oil supply line in two right where it mounts to the turbo it doesn't cost much.
