2006 Jetta 1.9TDI limp mode

I have searched forum with no luck. Purchased Jetta drove off trailer, drove around neighborhood short distances every thing seemed good. Order after market radio installed let idle while I cleaned shop. Got in to drive off put in drive drove a few feet prnds lite up, in limp mode. Ran scan get code PO717. This resets every time car cuts off. Does this sound like transmission is shot or an electrical issue. First VW diesel was excited now not so sure. Thanks for any suggestions. Also reinstalled stock radio still same problem.

First, I think the error is P0717, not PO717. Someone else on this forum had that error and there is a thread with P0717 in the title, but for some reason it does not come up in the forum search. The other party never followed up by explaining how the issue was resolved. I would suspect electrical connections first. Does this car have a rebuilt title? Was it in Houston during hurricane Harvey?

Yes it was P0717 sorry. This is a clean title car. No this car has been in Virginia according to the car fax. Thanks I will check the link you provided
