hey anyone out there with a high mile 06 jetta with annoying noise that goes away when you put it in drive? could be dual mass flywheel ? did you replace... at what cost?

probably time to get it replaced. It can take out the transmission if the failure mode is violent. Others, however, have driven many miles on a rattling DMF. It's up to you.
