Post pics as you go, I need the motivation. I remember a papasmurf from my Samurai days on a couple of Offroad forums.

Tinkering with this project again.
I’m going to use an external lift pump, can I leave the fuel filter under the hood or would it be better to install it between the pump and fuel tank? Should I cool the fuel returning to the tank? There is plenty of room for a cooler.

check the type of pump you will use. old 12valves used a crappy external pump that would die. latter they changed to an intank pump that pushed threw the filter. Im running one of those in my tank works great and I am pushing through the VW filter. And as long as your tank is a good truck size you wont need a fuel cooler.

It’s a decent Carter pump, I just don’t want to relocate the filter to under the bed

I don't believe I ever saw what your motor mounts looked like. Did you fabricate your own or get some from a samurai place?

I made them, pretty basic. I figured when I eventually get this running I will make up some hydraulic mounts if the vibes are too much

Plugging away at this again. Getting a code for implosible (sp?) signal for the brakes and a blinking glow plug light. When doing my wiring, I wired a relay to toggle a ground between the 2 brake inputs on the ECU when the brakes are applied. Doing a little research indicates a burnt out brake light. Should one of those brake inputs to the ECU have a resistor to simulate a bulb present? Should one of them have a voltage going to it instead of a ground?

This is for the 038906012xx Style ECM.

You can use a single brake switch with a 5 pin relay, as that is what I'm doing on the B3 Passat I have.

Good info! Thank you.
Don’t plan to use clutch switch. Should the ECU input be left open or 12v?
