This is off topic ............ if need be, moderator, please remove.

A good friend of mine purchased a new KIA Optamia in 2003. I begged him to consider a Jetta TDI.

Anyway, after I repaired his most recent problem (new fuel pump at 276k miles), I tried to clear the codes with ScanGauge. When I punch YES to delete the codes, the screen goes BLANK. I tried numerous times to delete the codes to clear the Check Engine Light. The Codes P1166 & P1167 are Ox Sensor related due to the leaning of fuel because of the failing fuel pump............he drove it until it quit, even with several weeks of warning signs.

Also, VCDS will do some basics with the KIA, but I also could not clear the codes with it. The message was that the Codes may not have been removed. The tests with VCDS said that the Ox Sensors passed okay, as well as all other systems in the test sequence.

Any ideas what he needs to do besides a costly trip to the Dealership?
