New Beetle Tail Light

How do I get the rear tail light out of my New Beetle. I found the port to get at the wing nut in the trunk but when it is off I still can't get the light out. Thanks for your help.

From the outside, use a flat screw driver and carefully pry along the circumference and then pull the whole thing out. Have you unscrewed the Knurled nut and taken the washer and spacer out?
Note that if your dealer has changed the bulb ever, the washer and spacer may be missing

After you take off the nut the taillite pulls out.
I think its easier if you start from the top, but the lite is a bear to pull out.

You get a pretty good view with the fender liner out- am going to replace all the bulbs I see when Im in there!
