Non-panoramic sun roof issues?

I am just a few weeks out from purchasing a TDI Golf or Jetta. I would prefer a Manual transmission Golf with no sunroof but I would not be opposed to a really nice car with a standard sun roof. Not interested in a JSW.

My question is: Do the standard sun roofs in the Golfs have a history of leakage or rattling?

Not from my experience 300,000mi on an 03 golf, 88,000mi on a 2013golf, 100,000mi in a 2012 golf.


I prefer non sunroof as I don't use them. Less weight and nothing to go wrong.


Hard to find one though.

Any sunroof can leak, make sure to keep the car clean (don’t park under trees) and the sunroof itself clean. I was my passat every week during pollen season, don’t want to clog up the sunroof drains.
