Hello all! Total newbie here and I've found the site VERY informative. THANK YOU! Now, I have a '96 Passat TDI. After having the engine replaced at 96k miles (broken timing belt-replaced under warranty), I've noticed some performance issues accelerating and maintaining speed on hills.

After reading some of your posts, I suspect a faulty MAF sensor. Is there anything else that could be an issue? I've alse read about a "chip" enhancement from Wetterauer. Is there significant performance to be gained from my 90 hp diesel?

ANY help or suggestion is appreciated!

Thanks for a great website!

MAF is 99.99999% certain NOT to be the problem on that particular car.

Leak in boost sensing hose from intake duct to ECU can cause that problem. So can a buggered N75 valve, or a number of other things.

Get it scanned for trouble codes, and read the TDIFAQ troubleshooting section for more information.
