Brake warning light shorting?

I changed the right, front wheel bearing on my 2005 TDI last week. After putting everything back together, I note the brake warning light stays on after I start the car, but goes out immediately when I shift into drive or reverse, either one. Any thoughts? Electrics is not one of my strong points.

Did you loose any brake fluid or bleed the brakes?
Maybe scan for codes while the light is on.

That's the exact place the brake pad warning system wire is... black wire with a rubber boot that connects to the brake pad on that particular wheel.

Since the problem started after you were right there doing something else odds are that's your best place to start: broken or damaged wire to the brake pad, loose or dirty connector perhaps?

Thank you

I have not lost any fluid. Matter of fact, car has 249,000 miles on it, and never leaves a spot on the driveway.

I thought about the wiring, but can't recall doing anything which would have messed it up. Regardless, I am pulling the wheel tomorrow, so I can have a good look at everything.

Thanks again. I just posted thinking someone may have had the experience :)
