So my new to me 2005 Passat GLS Wagon needs tires.
I'm hoping you guys can give me advice. The car has 17 inch VW wheels.
currently has 225/45/17 no name tires.
Cost#@ has sale on Michelin Pilot Sport A/S3 Tires:
225/45/17 $437
245/45/17 $549
Would the bigger size give me a better ride handling etc?

You also need to consider speed and load rating - probably something like 91 H.

The bigger tire might lower engine RPM some and may up the MPG slightly.

The wider tires will be heavier and the increased rolling resistance will, most likely, hurt mileage. Just my 2¢...

Yes I thought that too.

I'm selling my truck and need little more load hence the bigger tires and the wagon.
Smaller are cheaper too. Will they handle better?
