The wife's car (TDI in question) developed some torque converter issue, so I had her park it until I could get around to fixing it. A year later she nagged me into working on it, but the battery had gone totally dead. After charging the battery I found that it won't start for more than a second or so at a time. This sounds like an immobilizer issue, but things get more interesting. With the key on, the only instrument lights illuminating are the bonnet light and the battery light. There is no odometer reading and the fuel gauge doesn't move (added five gallons just to make sure it wasn't actually empty). The fuel solenoid is getting power, and the injector pump is primed, so I don't understand why it won't run... I actually don't really understand what the ecu actually does. Isn't this thing a mechanical pump? I replaced the 109 relay, and have checked all the fuses... any suggestions as to what the issue might be and where to find it?

Not sure if 01 is the same as my 03 but check fuses 11, 15, and 10.
They all feed the dash on mine.
Also check the ground(s) near the steering column.
