I'd like to move to a Touareg TDI for towing, but would like a real transfer case to deal with backing trailers up a steep driveway. Anyone know the last model to have a real transfer case? I've been researching what specs I can find online and it looks like after 2009 but before 2013?
EDITED LATER - Information from a friend with a 2005 indicates the transfer case went away during the model change from 2010-2011, so the 2010 should be the last one with the lower gears.
A second question would be for those towing with the later, non-transfer-case models: How does it handle pushing trailers uphill in reverse? I rarely tow anything over 1200 lbs, but often travel with my vehicle fully loaded, and routinely have to navigate some tricky angles in a steep narrow driveway.
