Fm > Bryan Viper

Does this recall/fix only effect TDI's in the USA or does it effect Canada as well?

And of course, the VIN # would be the primary determinant.....
Always keep it handy..

I emailed VW Canada about the issue & this was the response I got....

This means that Canada is just like the US about this. VW has been ordered to do a recall, but it is not yet in their computer system tied to VINs. This means that VW of Canada is doing exactly what VWoA is doing - they are frantically trying to get enough parts distributed to all of their dealers to handle all of the recalled cars before they officially recall the cars.

Just got a call from VWoA regarding the recall and telling me that they mailed the notice.

I asked if my car also needed injector line #2 replaced, as my car was built 12/2010 - answer I got was no, just the four rubber dampers.

Took my 2011 TDI Sportwagen to the Dealer yesterday to have winter tyres installed. Dealer informed me they would also be installing dampers on the fuel lines. I haven't even received the recall notice yet...!

I'm guessing you went to Georgetown VW? If so I'm not surprised I bought our car there and they were great to deal with.

I took my 2011 TDI (mfg date 7/11) to the dealer for the recall. They put the dampeners on but not the fuel line. They also said there was a recall/update for the clips that hold in the roof liner, which they also did. But in doing they scratched my back window tint.

Which DFW dealer?

McKinney is on my bad list. They screwed up my car...TWICE!!! They messes something up, then when I brought it back to fix it, they screwed something else up. I ended up getting a deal from the customer relations guy. Then I took it to Richardson for them to fix their screw up.

I got recall services a few days ago.
There were three recall issues on my car;
1. fuel injection line : installed the rubber seals
2. exhaust tips : replace exhaust tips
3. DSG software update : perform the software level update

My comment is regarding likelihood of fires...

Pour diesel in a cup and try to light it.. not happening..
Pop test an injector and hold up a flame to it... ingites readily like a flame thrower.

But... as soon as any injector line leaks a CR engine will instantly die. HPFP will not be able to maintain pressure and engine dies. So I doubt there will be fires if the lines crack. Complaints would simply be "engine dies and wont restart" or maybe "engine dies, and very difficult to start" and "fuel leak".

Did my 10k service today. Recalls also done. Dampners installed along with dsg update and exhaust tips.

Had my 30K service yesterday. They did the dampeners and did them correctly (i.e. placed them in the middle of the line), mine didn't require #2 line to be replaced, also did an ECM update but they said they didn't know what it addressed.

Flog, you should be in the MKIV forum for the ALH engine. You might want to look at intake cleaning instead of turbo and intercooler cleaning, it would pay bigger dividends. The intercooler is just a small radiator that cools the air out of the turbo before it gets to the intake, you can remove it and wash it out but typically isn't an item that gets plugged up in your model of car.....

OMG thought this was another issue lol simply a minor misunderstanding.
Anybody had problems after fixing the problem? Didnt do mine yet but will do it in 2 weeks when its back on the road

Cesar, what problem are you referring to? The recall was for the dampers on the fuel lines to stop them resonating and possibly leaking. If you have one of the suspect #2 fuel injector lines then they will replace that too.

NothernMage I have no clue lol been very confused with this whole issue from this recall, bought my Jetta in May 2011 so I believe its the #2 fuel injector, not worried at all the dealer will fix it. Was just wondering if anybody have any complains after the fix. I assume its all good ;D
