Window shopping a few used examples near me... My DD 2006 Jetta TDI has 310,000km on it, and I'm looking maybe for a change... (I've had it almost 5 yrs, and drove it 170,000km...)

Any commuters out there? What's your real world fuel economy? Fuelly doesn't seem to have a lot of A6 TDI data...

My wife has a 2015 q7 TDI with a Malone Stage 2 tune....

Following this post....I'm waiting for this antarctic winter to end in Chicago. Sights are set on a '16 Audi A6 sometime this spring. Test drove one for two days and loved it. Plan to get a Malone tune including the Dynamic Idle/EGR. Not looking to delete anything.

There are some slight upgrades/changes like the MMI system, and the exhaust, in the 2016 that I think are worth taking a look at vs the '14/'15 years. I'm planning to have this for a long time and figured its worth the cost now.

In the meantime I'm trying to read up as much information as I can.

I have a '14 A6 TDI with 88000 miles. I put about 35k of those on in the past two years. I'm getting average 29mpg in winter and probably closer to 31 in summer. I could definitely do better if I drove "economically"

My worst tank is 30, best is 40. I drive "assertively," definitely not aggressively though. Stick to no more than 5 over. Mostly highway with a 20 mile commute. Bought mine used but have put 25k on it this year. It is fixed and I hope to get a Malone tune done in the next 1-2 years. Mileage changed maybe 1-2 MPG after the fix. Love the car.

I have a 2014, have not paid close attention to the Mileage especially in winter but it is better than my Touareg. And the performance is awesome! The Quattro system is also great. Better than the Touareg.
A 2016 may be hard to find as they did not bring in many due to the Scandal breaking around that time. The 2016 did get the facelift and some other minor changes.

Thx guys, if you have numbers please post them....

I know on my own daily driving 2006 jetta tdi I get 5.5L/100km, probably at least 75% highway...

Wondering if I could manage 35US MPG if I switched to an a6 tdi....

I have seen high 6.xL/100km. If driving mostly Hwy you will easily get over 35 mpg especially in summer. Note that I have the s-line with wide 255/35/20 inch tires that play against economy.
It is by far the best TDI I have ever owned (TDI #7 for me) Fast, economical, great handling.

I commute around 30 miles one way each day to the office. Mostly highway miles. Depending on my dad taxi/short commute responsibilities in the evening I would regularly get 36-39 mpgs on a tank. If I babied it, over 40. My wife is not a “car gal”. She doesn’t care about the engine, wheels, or features; she looks at a vehicle and sees that it’s a car, truck or suv and what color it is...that’s the extent of her interest. We purchased a Yukon as we needed a people and toy hauler and it fit the bill. When we took ownership, my wife who doesn’t care about cars, begged me to take over the A6. She loves it! And now I miss it. I say all this because her daily driving consists of short 3-4 mile trips, idling/parked for an hour each day waiting to pick up our kids from school...basically doing everything a diesel wasn’t built for and she still gets 30 mpg on a tank. I absolutely love the car. I wish it had a remote start, manual tranny, and Apple car play. Then, for me, it would be the ultimate car. But as is, it’s about as close to perfect as a car can get.

My commute is also 30 miles, about half rural 2-lanes and half urban freeways. Typical mileage is 37-39, about 1-2 mpg lower in winter (winter diesel) and mid-summer (full-time A/C). Best is just over 40 mpg on a couple long trips at about 75 mph, worst is probably around 32 mpg but I've never done a full tank stop-and-go. We've had two 3.0L Touareg TDIs but this our first in a car. Really enjoyable to drive and can scoot if one is so inclined. Ours has 18" rims so the ride is not quite as stiff as some.

2016 A7 - 36mpg, I drive like a old man. The trans shift points are horrible dude, it revs forever when it's cold. Annoying is not the word for it. Sorry to be downer on a otherwise cool thread.

I would agree with Bahia, post-fix cars stink to drive until they warm up. They hold gears so the engine can work at a higher RPM resulting in the engine warming faster. I guess a warm engine burns diesel more efficiently than a cold engine??? Regardless the reason, it is annoying. Man, I miss my pre-fix Audi.

Totaled my 2000 Jetta TDI three weeks ago with 311,000 miles and loved the way it ran. Now looking for a 2014 Audi A6 TDI Quattro. Any leads?
Also, how far back did "the fix" go? Are the 2014 models affected? (I'm assuming the dealer changes the output of the engine to help save the environment?)

I have a 2015 A8L. With factory 20s, I would get 37-38 MPG summer, 35-36 winter.

Now I have heavy 21 BBS CH-RII and my MPG dropped 1-2 MPG. Oh well...lol
