My motor virtually fell out of my car today! Can this be related to the timing belt change I just had done or just bad mounts. It seemed like the piece of mount I found was made out of die cast metal.

was this your second TB? The dealership up here in Belleville said that they are finding that they sometimes have to replace the mount on the second TB and more often on the third TB if it wasn't replaced on the second TB. They said this is due to the bolts being over torqued and the aluminum mount ends up getting stripped. They can't do helicoils (sp?) but they suggested that as a cheaper option if you do your own belt.

This was my second belt. I have 145000 miles on car. Will it damage anything or can they just put new mounts in?

Did they replace or reuse the bolts on the motor mount? They must be replaced each time else they may break.

I'm going to have to ask them to save them and look at them. I found one piece of what might be the engine mount and the threads were perfect.
