214k ...on original auto trans fluid lol
Indeed... VERY GOOD ADVICE.... Check the tanny fluid level.. I had the same thing happen last year when towing a trailer down east, jumped out of 5th and wouldn't stay in. When I finally got the check the fluid level, 1500kms later as it's hard to find that hex socket, my level was nearly non-existent too. Finally got around to replacing the tranny last month (what a job!) and I'll be checking the fluid every year...2000 ALH 5-speed, 294k miles ............ assumed that a nice clean tranny (top and bottom) meant no need to check fluid level ............wore out 5th gear about three weeks ago!
Tranny, with no warning/syptoms, jumped out of 5th gear and would not stay in ever again. Added almost enough fluid to indicate it was basically empty! If you know how the tranny is made, 5th is out there on the end and when the fluid level gets low it suffers big time!
So, check/change the darn fluid per the specifications!
Quoting my own post! ??232,000 miles......2004 NB with Diesel Power power box ..Replaced the glow plug harness, turbo inlet hose clamp blew off and had that changed, timing belt changes and oil changes...
That's it. Going in to oldpoopie for it's next timing belt and doing the cam shaft at that time...also throwing an aluminum skid plate on too. I'm sick of replacing those plastic POS skid plates!
I wanna hit 400K at least!
