Hello All:

Need to some help verifying if a shop adviser's suggestion is valid. I am suspecting my engine oil cooler is going bad and needs replacement (coolant show signs of oil contamination). When I asked the adviser to provide me with an estimate for replacing the engine oil cooler he mentioned that the DSG fluid will need to be serviced if the engine oil cooler is going to be replaced- this was including the other related items like flush/changing the coolant and engine oil service (oil due for a change anyways). I agree with the coolant and engine oil change; however, I cannot wrap my head around why the adviser was suggesting that the DSG fluid needs to be changed since I recall the engine oil cooler is dedicated to maintaining temperature for engine oil. Wonder if he is confusing the transmission cooler with engine cooler? Thanks all.

Probably confused or just selling you an unnecessary procedure. Although if it hasn't been changed, you might as well.
