...to see if they are genuine!
My impression as I have looked over their website is that they are selling genuine product.

They sell a lot of different brands, and here's their specific Hengst page.

http://www.diesel-filters.com/brands/Hengst-Filters.html

It looks like they sell hundreds of different Hengst filters of all kinds.

E154H-D48 http://www.diesel-filters.com/e154h-d48-hengst-oil-filter.html

There's also Hengst video on the video tab.

I haven't bought any from here yet, but if you're concerned about whether they're selling genuine product, why don't you call them and ask, or use their live chat..

I purchased filters from them for my Duramax a few years ago. No issues with ordering or with the filters, I received exactly what I ordered.

USPS (Priority Mail - Regular) $7.05

That is for four filters, it also says 7-10 days.

I just did a live chat session with diesel-filters.com.

Filters are genuine Hengst.

Placed an order for Hengst E154H-D48 case of 12 - $47.88 + $10.85 shipping to my location.

Edit: less than 3 hrs since placing order and order already shipped with UPS tracking number.

Pardon my ignorance, but what makes the Hengst E154H-D48 filter so desirable? Is the Mahle or Mann a lesser quality? They are presented as equals on a lot of retail sites.

What about this Hengst on IDparts? I realize thats a different manufacturer part number.

What is the difference? I ask because I have had trouble finding specs on these filters as far as micron rating or water separations or not. You seem pretty set on that particular Hengst filter and I have to admit the price is pretty attractive.

Nevermind that filter you are talking about is a oil filter. I still want to know what the micron rating of the Mahle filter I am running is.

I was searching for the Hengst filter because it is believed to be the best/highest performing. I came across the site and the price was great so wondered if anyone had experience with it.
I normally buy from vendors on here but they generally don't stock hengst oil filters.

Thanks Phaser, I saw that.
I just ordered 6 oil, with an air and cabin filter (by Hengst) to see the difference between manufacturers (Bosch/Mann etc.).

1. The only OEM filters that bear US Patent stamp
2. Filter media has more pleats for better filtration
3. Embossed dimples vs high temp. adhesive bead rings. Prevent filter from bunching up / collapsing.
4. Filter media pleats are rolled vs folded. No oil restriction which gives much better oil flow.

Hengst OF & FF : 15 μm & 10 μm

IIRC, Mann OF & FF: 25 μm vs 20 μm

I'll buy that for a dollar. Thanks for the info I don't have time to cut many filters apart as much I would like to. These kind of construction notes are good to have though.

Your post info is fine but I LAUGH OUT LOUD at your claim you were the first to prefill filters. Give me a break....seriously. Anyone who's been working on these cars far longer than you have been a member knows you prefill filters in MK4 TDI cars. Usually shops do it in a faster more efficient method of vacuum.

Dude, credit where it is due. T_D_I_POWER has the absolute first documented times that anyone ever did the following three things in the history of mankind:
1st TO USE Mobil 1 ESP Formula M 5W-40 IN THE CLUB
1st TO PREFILL OFH/OFI INSTL W/ OIL IN THE CLUB
1st TO PREFIL FF W/ DIESEL FUEL IN THE CLUB
No one else, ever, even once used M1 ESP Formula M, prefilled a OFH/OFI (whatever that is) or "PREFIL"ed the FF W/ DIESEL FUEL.

Never. Not even once.
This is genesis.

I mean, really, what have Jason or Oilhammer ever done for TDIClub?! :D
